IDB Celebrates 10 Years of Sustaining Peace and Honoring Gains in Bangsamoro

Barira, Maguindanao del Norte – The Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB) celebrated the   10th Ceremonial Decommissioning Anniversary on June 17, 2025, with a heartfelt celebration held in the Secured Arms Storage Area (SASA), Barira, Maguindanao del Norte. The event, themed “A Decade of Decommissioning: Sustaining Peace, Honoring Gains,” served as a powerful testament to a decade of unwavering commitment to peace and significant progress in the Normalization Track of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB).

The commemoration brought together the IDB board members and  dedicated IDB staff to reflect on the remarkable journey since the launch of the decommissioning process and the establishment of the IDB. It was a day to strengthen unity among all those working towards lasting peace in the Bangsamoro region and to reaffirm our collective resolve for the future.

Messages of congratulations and steadfast commitment poured in from the invaluable key peace partners. Their words underscored their continued support for the peace process and the full reintegration of former combatants, reinforcing the collaborative spirit that drives IDB’s work.

A truly special part of the event was the recognition ceremony for the dedicated IDB awardees. Heartfelt messages from the 10-year awardees resonated deeply, sharing their personal reflections on a decade of service and dedication. His Excellency (HE) Chairman Suat Akgün also delivered a powerful message, specifically acknowledging the invaluable contributions of every member of the IDB staff, whose tireless efforts are the backbone of the success.

The 10th Ceremonial Decommissioning Anniversary was more than just an event; it was a powerful affirmation of the progress made and a renewed commitment to the future of peace in the Bangsamoro Region. The IDB remains steadfast in its mission to oversee the decommissioning of MILF forces and their weapons, contributing significantly to the stability and development of the region. #MAM
