Cagayan de Oro- The Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB) successfully completed its intensive Strategic Direction Setting for 2026 from 9-11 December 2025, gathering all IDB Staff at the Apple Tree resort in Opol, Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental. The significance of this strategic meeting is rooted in the IDB’s critical mandate as a key component of the Normalization Track under the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB). Created jointly by the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), the IDB directly contributes to human security and confidence-building in the Bangsamoro region, making the Strategic Direction Setting a central event for solidifying the gains of the peace process and paving the way for regional stability.
The three-day exclusive event was designed to move beyond routine operations and dive deep into foundational strategic planning. This gathering served as the crucible for the IDB’s upcoming endeavors, providing a dedicated space for critical self-assessment, collaborative problem-solving, and the forging of a unified vision for the organization’s continued mandate. The serene and focused environment was key to fostering the intellectual rigor and camaraderie needed to chart a clear, actionable course for the organization’s strategic journey in the coming year.
The successful conclusion of the Strategic Direction Setting 2025 marks an important moment for the IDB. The comprehensive program, which included everything from an organizational visit to the MSU Museum and presentation of accomplishments and future plans, to a final debriefing before the return trip to Cotabato City on Day 3, ensures that every staff member is fully aligned and committed to the newly defined strategic path. The outcomes of this intensive workshop will serve as the organizational blueprint, guiding operational decisions and resource allocation throughout 2026. The IDB staff are now poised to execute their redefined mandate with renewed focus, energy, and a clear, unified roadmap for continued success in achieving the body’s critical objectives.
