COTABATO CITY — The IDB in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross Cotabato - Maguindanao Chapter culminated its three-day First Aid and Basic Life Support Training for the IDB staff on Saturday, 4 May.

The initiative to equip the IDB staff with skills is a further preparation for the actual decommissioning process. "During the decommissioning, we will go to our processing sites, these are communities with fewer facilities. It is best that we capacitate our staff for any eventualities," according to IDB Operations Manager Anna Pacete.

The three-day training entailed basic lectures on theories and procedures, skills demonstration and an emergency drill.

David Paul Apondar, IDB Programmer and one of the participants of the training said, “It was informative and enlightening. Hopefully, we will be able to apply all that we have learned as responders should an incident happen while we are doing the decommissioning work.” Apondar also stressed that the training will also be helpful to them as general first aiders and crises responders, even outside of IDB.

The first aid and basic life support training is among the many preparatory activities held by IDB. The IDB continues to capacitate its staff in preparation for the forthcoming decommissioning process.
