IDB CONCLUDES 2019 WITH ITS YEAR-END ASSESSMENT AND PLANNING WORKSHOP
18 December 2019
COTABATO CITY – Last 08-12 December 2019, the Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB) conducted its annual Year-End Assessment and Planning Workshop (YAPWS) at Eden Nature Park and Resort, Toril, Davao City. Spearheaded by IDB’s Operations, Planning and Training Section (OPTS), the five-day endeavor attended by 95 IDB international and local staff aims to celebrate the accomplishments of IDB in 2019 and to firm up its plans for 2020 in fulfilling its mandate of overseeing the decommissioning process with utmost efficiency.
The said activity became an avenue for IDB to review and assess activities for the second half of 2019, which mainly focuses on the second phase of the decommissioning. Moreover, the YAPWS equipped the IDB personnel with enough information regarding the current status of the implementation of the second phase of decommissioning and the key assumptions for next year, which served as a guide for each section and unit in devising their work plans for 2020.
IDB through its Support Services Manager (SSM) also facilitated a re-echo activity on the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) programme, a training that he attended on 04-10 November 2019 at Stockholm, Sweden supported by Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA). The session aims to identify relevant strategies and techniques from the training course that are applicable to the current decommissioning process.
Furthermore, teamwork and camaraderie among the staff were strengthened through a team-building activity organized by an AdHoc committee. The said endeavor concluded with the year-end ball to celebrate and acknowledge all the efforts and contributions of the staff in ensuring a productive and successful 2019 for IDB.
Since 2016, IDB has been conducting its Year-End Assessment and Planning Workshop. What’s remarkable this year is the highlight of activities focusing on the second phase of the decommissioning and IDB’s preparation for the third phase of decommissioning for year 2020. //CRA
