Brunei Embassy Reaffirms Commitment to Peace and Security in BARMM

 
 

Cotabato City, BARMM – The Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB) further cemented its partnership with the Brunei Embassy during a working visit held at the IDB Headquarters on 27 August 2024. The engagement marked a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to promote peace and security in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The working visit commenced with the IDB Chief of Staff extending a cordial welcome to the esteemed delegates from the Brunei Embassy, headed by Lt. Col. Suzana binti Hj. Antin, Defense Attaché of the Brunei Embassy and Bruneian delegates, conveying the warm regards of His Excellency Suat Akgun, IDB Chairman. The Brunei Darussalam, as member of IDB, will continue to support the peace process between Philippine government and Bangsamoro people.

During the briefing, the IDB Chief of Staff provided an in-depth overview of the progress made in the decommissioning process, emphasizing the key milestones that have been achieved to date. The discussions also touched on the current priorities of the IDB, which include supporting other mechanisms, implementing staff rotations, engaging with stakeholders, and enhancing staff capacity through targeted training and process improvement initiatives.
