Enhancing Workplace Well-being: IDB's Stress and Anger Management Workshop
On August 19-20, 2024, the IDB participated in a stress and anger management workshop held at Tanghalang Michael Clark, Notre Dame University, Cotabato City. The workshop was facilitated by Prof. Angelita Roldan-Sandro, Program Head of the Math/Natural/Social Sciences Department at the College of Arts and Sciences. The primary goal of this training was to equip IDB staff with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage stress and anger effectively in both personal and professional settings.
Over the course of the two-day workshop, participants engaged in exercises designed to identify personal and professional triggers of stress and anger. Through discussions and activities, they gained a deeper understanding of their physiological and psychological responses to various triggers. The participants were introduced to practical tools and techniques for managing stress and anger, including relaxation methods such as mindfulness, meditation, and breathing exercises.
Additionally, the training emphasized the importance of communication in managing conflict and fostering a positive work environment. Through interactive exercises and role-playing activities, participants explored techniques for improving communication, which led to greater self-awareness and empathy towards colleagues.
The training successfully fostered self-awareness among staff regarding their stress and anger triggers. By equipping them with these tools, the workshop contributed to their overall well-being and helped create a more cohesive and productive work environment. Overall, the stress and anger management workshop was well-received by the participating IDB staff. The interactive format and engaging activities provided a valuable learning experience for all attendees. IDB believes that this training will have a positive impact on staff well-being and contribute to a more positive and productive work environment.
As a result of the training, the IDB has proposed to form a Disaster Core Group, integrating it with the existing Health and Safety Assistance Team and Fire Prevention Committee. This group will lead the DRRM efforts within the organization. Additionally, quarterly earthquake and fire drills will be proposed to ensure that disaster preparedness becomes a habitual practice among the staff. These measures are crucial steps toward building a safer and more resilient workplace, ensuring that IDB is well-prepared to handle any future disasters efficiently.
