IDB strengthens readiness for upcoming phase of decommissioning with successful conduct of MYAPWS
COTABATO CITY (28 July 2021) – In preparation for the eventual conduct of the third phase of verification and decommissioning of MILF combatants and weapons, the Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB) successfully conducted its 2021 Mid-Year Assessment and Planning Workshop (MYAPWS) on 08-09 July 2021 at Pagana Kutawato Hotel and Restaurant, Cotabato City.
Spearheaded by the Operations, Planning and Training Section (OPTS), the two-day activity which was participated by 38 IDB key staff members from its different sections/units primarily aimed to review and assess IDB’s accomplishments for the first half of 2021 and to firm its plans for the remaining half of the year.
Further during the activity, the Operations Manager presented and discussed updates on the current status of preparations for the third phase of verification and decommissioning process, including key assumptions and projections as well as the proposed Phase 3 Decommissioning Implementation Plan. This served as guidance for the sections/units in recalibrating their respective work plan.
With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, necessary health and safety protocols were strictly imposed and observed during the entire conduct of the MYAPWS.
This event marks the second Mid-Year Assessment and Planning Workshop of IDB since its kick-off in 2019. The annual conduct of the activity was initially planned and scheduled last 2020, yet postponed due to some restrictions brought about by the current public health crisis. //CRA
