IDB celebrated National Peace Consciousness Month and World Peace Day 2023
On September 21, 2023, in accordance with Proclamation No. 675 issued on July 20, 2004, the month of September was designated as "National Peace Consciousness Month." This year's theme, "Kapayapaan: Responsibilidad ng Bawat Mamamayan," emphasizes the responsibility of every citizen in advancing the gains of peace. It also coincides with the observance of The International Day of Peace, commonly known as World Peace Day, which falls on the 21st of September. Hence, the Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB) actively participated in this celebration in contribution to the broader effort to advance peace in Mindanao.
In a remarkable display of unity and a shared vision, IDB convened to celebrate this peace-focused occasion. This event transcended boundaries which brought together individuals of various backgrounds, races, beliefs, and nationalities, all united by a common goal—advocating peace. In this brief yet meaningful gathering, IDB emphasized the universal nature of peace i.e., a language that resonates with every heart, regardless of one's life journey.
During this celebration, Commander Zouhdy Abdul Razak – Deputy Chief of Staff, extended a warm welcome, underscoring the importance of peace, unity, and the organization's mission. This is followed by an informative video presentation courtesy of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) highlighting the historical foundation of the comprehensive Philippine peace process. Additionally, Operations Manager, Maricel Bantilo, shared a message with emphasis on the inspiration and gratitude for the contribution of IDB in advancing peace through decommissioning efforts. Lastly, the spirit of unity and peace was captured in a group photo, serving as a lasting reminder of IDB being part of a collective commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace in Bangsamoro.
In conclusion, this celebration served as a reminder that peace is a shared journey that transcends borders and differences.
